Cannot get any error codes from the diagnostic connector

When I was asking about "which egr component," I was thinking DPFE. But, I don't want to be one of those people who reads forum posts and says, "You should replace your blah blah..."
All that said, the DPFE on the Ranger is supposedly the most common egr component that fails. I replaced mine, but only after the code reader told me it was busted and I followed up with an ohmmeter test of the component.

Glad you're back up and running.

i have a 93 ranger that had a 92 4.0 swapped in (previously a 2.3). and my check engine light is on but it doesnt respond to the eec test either. i am familiar with the testing procedures as i have had a bunch of fords of this era. CEL stays solid. tried a test light and it also stays solid. it has a constant fast idle and doesnt shift into od or tc. now the ecm is under hood and is sealed with silicone. could it be a bad ecm? is there a way to remove ecm and have it tested? thanks.
