Canister purge line

Fiance came home with the 93 after driving for while and when i went out to greet her i noticed the smell of gas near the engine compartment. i popped the hood and noticed the line going from the tank to the canister was loose. i gave it a tug and it came right up with a wet end. there was raw fuel inside the rubber line.

uh...is this bad? i thought this system was designed to capture fumes. if this is normal, cool, no biggie, i happened to find this because the end was split and it basically fell off. if it isnt supposed to have raw fuel in it, what gives?
 
My dads had the same problem when the canister got a hole in it and dripped fuel everywhere. We just solidered up the hole and it worked fine. But when we took the canister out to swap his motor the canister didnt have liquid fuel in it. I think the resone there was liquid fuel in it was because of the hole. Dunno if this helps or not but I would just fix the line.

had she recently filled the fuel tank?

probably the warmest yet, with the most driving. it probably had between half and a quarter tank. i did cut the split end off and put it back on.

what i am wondering is if this has any corrolation to other problems i have with this stupid rebuild. either i have an exhaust noise sounding just like detonation, or i have detonation and i cant figure it out, annnd, i just read a posting of yours Allen about vapor lock wich i also think i am suffering from.

so if fuel in the CANP system is no big deal, im alreay on to other things...
 
It's funny I only discovered the vapor lock phenomena by accident.

I won a "free gas card" as a door prize and thus I actually bought pump gas...

NORMALLY I buy my fuel from a local junkyard, fuel they drain from
incomming junkers... it's cheap:)

It also has virtually NO butane...

ohhh thats too funny. well i'm glad you stumbled into that because it seems like i have read dozens postings about warm starting issues. i just have put up with it since its never been too bad, or otherwise plan it so i dont have short stop intervals.

anywho...so raw fuel in the CANP system isnt a catastrophy it seems like.
