Can someone tell me?

I was looking at the VW Polo Bluemotion which is only availible in europe. It gets 76 mpg has less emmisions than a prius and costs 23,000 which is like 2k more than a prius. Makes me want one of those turbo diesel rangers they have in the UK

the U.K. diesel rangers yikes ! I was thinking more of Brazillian/South American ranger

the U.K. ones looks like a station wagon with no roof on the back those things are uglyyy

As far as sulfur making diesel burn hotter, not so much, but I can somewhat explain some of the benefits of sulfur in diesel. Sulfur gives less electrons(energy) during the chemical reaction(combustion), leaving more energy(electrons) to react to and make a bigger "bang." It expands more because the electrons are not transferred greatly to another element in the reaction.

More energy obviously means more power, Plus, the more energy per unit of fuel, the better mileage.

Not to kinda change the subject but here in MD diesels are not required to take emissions when you get the letter in the mail all we do is check the box that says "DIESEL EMISSION EXEMPT" and send it back. With that being said I wonder if I can import a diesel ranger and have it registered in MD. Is emissions the only thing keeping the diesel ranger out of the US or are there other reasons?

I seriously couldnt see any other reason they wouldn't allow it.

Another question is, why was Ford able to make diesels in the 1985-1987 but now they are unable to produce them here? I mean obviously emissions regulations have changed with the time.

I've heard they won't pass safety standards either. A lot of guys here want to bring one back and register it here, but not sure if it will fly or not.

I know I see a lot of crappy messican cars running around here that couldn't possibly pass safety standards- but they still have messican license plates on them too.

From what I hear, you wouldn't want one of those diesels from a few decades ago. No power. Run it in 5th gear OR the A/C but not both.
