Can I ask a favour of someone with a third gen and nerf bars?

I have nerf bars but no brackets (well...brackets for a 1998+ which don't work on my 1996) so i gotta fab some up. But i have no idea how to start, the ones provided don't even sorta line up. Could someone with a 1996 (or even the same gen, should be the same) take the time to crawl under there truck and take a pic to help me out? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
P.S. A quick question not worthy of its own topic: after a four inch suspension lift its pretty crucial to get an alignment done right?

I don't want to sound like a ****, but would maybe a few drill holes suffice?

Although, if you are going to fab brackets, I am sure that you can make them however you want!

Sorry i am just really clueless when it comes to nerf bars and stuff like this. The manual mine came with says they attach to a crossing bar or something which i do not have. So i dunno if i should attach them to the bottom cab area or the frame. The frames like a foot in from where the nerf bars would be. Im just wondering how/where nerf bars attached on a third gen. I am sorry for being such a newb when it comes to this.

just make some brackets. mount them to the frame and use some steel to get them out as far as you need.

everything is better when you build it yourself.

Thank you AllanD, thats what i was looking for. I think i will do something like that. but i might weld it to the frame not bolt on. I hate drilling and lining up holes haha.

Welding, if not done with exquisite care in technique, choice of location, etc
can severely weaken the frame.

Make a piece to bolt to the frame then weld your sliders to it...

I'm still planning my own stepbar/sliders.

I've got sufficient 2.5" 0.20 wall STAINLESS (316L) pipe to do the job.

Don't get me wrong, I have and will weld on my frame, but I DO NOT
do so casually and not for anything as trivial as mounting a set of rock sliders.

they are something that is designed to protect other things and by
their nature they need to be removeable because they themselves
may get bent......

Oh, Alright i wasn't aware. I guess i'll make everything bolt. It probably won't be as beefy as the link you gave me but mine are just nerf bars which need to hold a couple hundred pounds for a couple seconds haha.
