Can anyone tell me the calibration code off this emissions label as there is no sticker in the door jamb nor any label on the engine. Thank you in advance.

I see an EGR in the vacuum diagram.

Not positive... but i think EGR was California emissions.

What are trying to accomplish?

86 had EGR even in 49 states it even had a knock sensor, both of which were dropped for 87 I believe. Want to put the correct PCM in it, I am pretty sure it's been replaced in the past.

Maybe @gaz has something to offer

I have never seen a 2.9l that wasn't equipped with an EGR. From 1986-1988 the EEC-IV PCM pinout remained the same. I stayed away from the 89 and newer PCM's though I did buy an 89 harness and used it without issue

According to FORD FUEL INJECTION & ELECTRONIC ENGINE CONTROL by Charles O. Probst, SAE the PCM's for all 2.9l are MFI (multi-port fuel injection) with EGR. The only deviation that I am aware of in the 2.9l series is how Ford setup the intake in the European powered Merkur Scorpio.

I have a couple PCM's, I can jot down their codes if you like but to get a suitable PCM flashed, all that is required is the VIN number. As long as you know the correct VIN, you should be golden ..)

These older EEC4 don't require a VIN number. I am trying to get a PCM, and I would like to get the correct calibration number. I am pretty sure that the only differences are auto verses Manual transmission and 49 states verses California emissions. All 86s had EGR and a knock sensor.

I am required to supply the VIN number to my local Ford dealership for them to reflash my Federal 1994 EEC-IV PCM for use with my California EGR setup...just saying. In other words, getting the correct calibration is as simple as knowing the vehicles VIN, as that is how Ford catalogs marrys them up.

REGARDLESS, here are two of my 87 PCM's:
1) 1987 Bronco II, 2.9l with automatic trans
