c5 output shaft swap

goin to swap out the tailshaft and housing out of a c5 into my c4. im ordering the parts off ebay, is there a specific shaft length or any variation between shafts that anyone knows of or are they all the same, im wanting to keep the stock transfer case. transfer case has the speedo cable so thats not a issue since i know the c4 has a spot for one too

I once bought a c5 adapter - shaft and housing off e-bay that as supposed to be from James Duff (but the housing says ford on it so not sure). On there site they have 3 different length adapters.

I cant remember which length one I had, I ended up going with a stock c5 - I still have that adapter somewhere, but the c5 i put in my '95 was way shorter than the m50d that I replaced, so I don't think you're going to get close to the length of what you have in your 94

In fact, my c5 with a doubler t/c was only like 1-1/2" longer than the stock tranny. I think without the doubler it was over 5" shorter

i measured my tranny and its 29inches, and the c4 is 18" without the tailsection. so ill need the 11.5inch adaptor to make it about the same as stock, i was trying to find a c5 or atleast just the parts to swap them over so i could avoid the 500$ bill of Advanced Adaptors. but if i want this done fast it looks like im gonna have to fork out the big bucks.

The C4 and C5 case should be pretty much the all same for what you are concerned with. As long as you have an output for a 4x4 C5 and the tailshaft housing for a RBV 4x4 that's all you will need. Everything will bolt up and swap in place. As far at the speedo all 4x4s I'm aware of take speed from the t-case so it shouldn't be an issue reguardless of the case you use.
