Where can I find information or a write-up on doing a C4/C5 hybrid? I want to know what parts from each tranny are the strongest. Its going behind a well built 302 in a 4x4 truck.
C4- C5 is basically the same transmission...The C5 has a different(what is called an auxiliary) valve body due to the C5 being a lockup unit and the C4 is not lockup.
That's pretty much everything covered already. The drums is a little bit forgotten by some due to lack of knowledge, but pretty much swap valve bodies and install a C4 converter and you're done. Unless of course it's in need of a rebuild then typical rebuild steps apply...good time time to change drums.
