o.k here's my problem: i did a body lift on my full-size[same truck as avitar], it is a 73 F250 w/1969 C-6. anyway i thought i had disconnected shift linkage[wrong;brownbag;]and discovered AFTER i lifted cab with tractor that i was saddly:bawling:mistaken. anyway it hyper-extended my linkage up past the parking pawl[got it to shift back] and now for my dillema, when truck is cold everything shifts fine:P R N D 2 1, but when the transmission warms up and i give it the juice it slips real bad in drive. not sure what problem is, checked fluid, it was a pint low so i topped it of that didn't change anything. problem only surfaces when tranny is warm. BEFORE the lift everything was just fine. if i have to have tranny rebuilt, not a big deal, but would like to know if there is something i am missing before i spend two hours dropping it to the ground

You may have bent the little(detent) spring that rides on the rooster inside the tranny and its not its not exactly in drive maybe between neutral and drive or between drive 2 and drive. That is what i would check first and if it was in park id say it pulled the lever like it was pulling towards park and bent that detent spring.

Note: the detent spring is suppose to be straight at the roller end, ifit has a bend there then it is bent.

nope, dropped the pan everything looks the way it's supposed to, fluid smells a little rank like it got hot but not quite burnt. tranny shop said i more than likely blew seals internally due to over exertion and and recently poor[ but now fixed ] engine performance
