Buying my first truck - please help!

I just spent a 1/2 looking over those Go Fast Campers.... pretty cool. They sure don't give them away though.

The giant campers that you see on the old fords, they went away with the dinosaurs...

Yup...
They don’t make them anymore...

Not with dual slide outs...
Not at all...

Dang. When I opened this thread just now. The sarcasm oozed out and dripped all over my sandwich.
I love sarcasm, I put that sh!t on everything!

Was it just enough or was it too much? I hoped it wouldn’t ooze, maybe I used a little too much.

Just right

Not everybody reads the book either...

Modern trucks just don't look good with slide in campers... that's probably why the manual advises against it. :icon_rofl:

The massive ones that hang way off the back don't really look good on anything...

Camper prices are crazy :shok:... https://www.truckcampermagazine.com/buyers-guide/pop-up-truck-campers/four-wheel-pop-up-camper/

They don't beat around the bush much do they?

Weird, for the payload rating on a newer ones I figured it was a balance thing with the Supercrews and their dinky bed.

I'm guessing it's a CYA thing for Ford related to a roll over issue. High center of gravity without a sway bar.

Photo below is a 2019 Ranger with a full pallet of sod in the bed... and that's what it took to "level out" the truck. That's cargo is in the weight range of 2,500 to 3,000 lbs :icon_surprised: On our 2019 SCab the maximum weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed 1536 lbs.

That is plausible, the "camper package" for my '85 included a rear sway bar... and a payload bump to around 1,700 lbs.

Things roll over. Deal with it... I rolled a chevy celebrity wagon...

its a liability thing. If they say dont do it, then you cant sue them. Otherwise you can put on an oversize camper, top out on the highway, yank the wheel as hard as you can to either side, and if you dont die, sue them and win. At least in CA.

Also for you first truck I would recommend a newer used truck. And lots of test drives.
