Its alot more solid than it looks in pics

how did that happpen lol

When they do power lines they don't tension them right away. They lay on the ground and they wind them up at the ends. Animals get caught in them all the time. Moose are notorious for this too.

I don't think the snorkel is that bad... other than the tape. I just don't think that'll hold.

Its PVC tape that is basically like cement when its stuck to clean metal or itself

Good thing it is only a small engine. If it really were to breathe hard that hose would colapse on itself. A hard pipe of PVC is the only lasting way to go.
I give you an A+ for effort and when you get some money and time do it again. :icon_thumby: The only way we truly learn to work on stuff is to just do it!

this is a true statement, i did mine just like yours with that collapsible tubing, minus the tape that is, i used wire and zip ties, but from all the movement and vibration that collapsible hose is falling apart at the seams and forming pretty large holes. be sure to check the hose before going wheeling EVERY TIME cuz if i didnt do that i wouldnt have an engine anymore :bawling:

Mine is not a cowl snorkel, but the same principles apply. There's a reason I used abs pipe (3 inch) and rubber (3" metal coil) flex tube.

You get an A for effort....but the execution is terrible. 'Taping' anything onto a truck is not a good idea. And that dryer hose will fail (soon). Also, did you make sure the connection to the airbox is water tight? are all holes sealed up?

Just trying to give you some insight....if you have any questions about materials I used feel free to ask.

thats the absolute worst thing you can do....toooooo much 2 inch. 3 inch pipe is ideal....the central vacuum stuff is a better bet over the small pvc.
i have to give it point for proper location to stay out of the operational drain flow of the cowl.

the metal vent pipe is actually potentially better flow wise in one sense, (though it needed a inner support and rubber coupler at the box for a good seal), and some balls to put a hole in the cowl side to simply stuff it into and pull air. good zip ties instead of tape to tie it to the fender..

at the same time the metal will be hotter as well, but being out of the engine compartment really helps. whether or not its too turbulant and actually flows worse and impedes power over the 2 in pvc setup would be cool to find out.

both of these for sure are better then no snorkel, waaay better.
