Nylon 5/16 line seems to be Ford’s standard for fuel lines. Nowadays you can get the stuff more reasonably than years ago. Of course, Ford also used two different sized connectors, one of which is a little uncommon for 5/16” line.

My green Ranger I opted to go with -6 AN PTFE braided stuff. It’s 3/8” diameter and seems to work just fine. The catch is, it’s not cheap and it’s not super easy to splice into old lines, so you end up running a whole section.

My 92 Ranger had a gas leak after I got it. Found a bit of rubber line replacing the factory line and it was bad to where there was hundreds of pinholes and it looked like a soaker hose. It needed fixed right away and all I had on hand was a little 3/8 fuel line and a coil of 3/8” aluminum line. So it’s got two hose clamps on each end and most of the length is from the 3/8” aluminum line. For the return system, which was up until 98, that’s way more than adequate. One hose clamp would really be plenty. The returnless systems run a higher pressure.
