When it rains, well it pours.

Left rear rusted through and broken. Right doesn't look much better. Thanks Minnesota winters with lots of salt on the roads.

Shop is doing both. Don't know the cost, but it will be painful I am sure.

Let us know.
I did all 4 front and back in 2002. I dropped the gas tank to do the front brackets.

The fronts are still good but just did the rears last month.
Just the shackle rusted folded not the perch.
The spring bolts are usually the worst to get out. But,I melted one bushing and replaced it. The other came apart without issue.

Yikes! A shop is not gonna be cheap. I'm curious what they will charge.
Fyi, the job looks like a portion of this: http://imgur.com/a/WpQR8 <<< CLICK

I didn't find them too bad, but I just replaced the leafs with new ones, and all new hardware. I had one busted leaf, so a full pair of new ones were only $200 shipped.

The job of removing and replacing the shackles was nothing compared to trying to remove the bolt that holds the radius arms to the I-beams. That was hours of penetrating oil and torching. I nearly cut the damn thing off and bought new ones.

Interested to hear just how expensive this repair job is through a shop. I'd say it's $800.00.

I fixed this at work to the tune of $750 and change.

Perch, shackle, and rear spring bushing on both sides.

As a bonus, I hammered his bed floor back down for free...

Shoot me a PM where you got the leafs from.
I have one broke at the U bolt on the drivers side.
Pulled one half out then made a clamp to hold the brocken one.

I've done the radius arm bushings as well.I lucked out, lots of heat and a large breaker bar got it loose. A couple years later I needed to relace the rear bushing on the drivers side. I think I might have put that one together wrong, who knows. I went with OEM hard rubber instead of the red composite ones.

Total cost was $544.06. Cardone makes a kit for the spring hanger and leaf shackle. Parts were a total of $186.00. Labor was 4 hours.

My friend told me that in the past before the kits were available, they had to order individual parts from Ford. This put the average cost over $750.

Thanks,

Always wonder what a rear shackle replacement would cost these days.
Man,$750 back in the day. Talk about Ford parts having DYI folks by the nads.
