broke timing brlt

Hi guys,

New it the site, timing belt broke on the way home from work. The motor just shut off, is the 93 4cyl/2.3l an interference motor? Or do I have bent valves. Thanks.

It's non-interference.

since the belt broke i know i cant just rotate the motor around to line up the timing marks. do i have to take the cam loose, then rotate the motor to tdc?

just rotate it any wheres you want,non interference.Don't turn it backwards once you get the belt on,sometimes it jumps a tooth.http://www.rangerpowersports.com/forum/showthread.php?t=177331 It would be nice to make this a sticky here.

4b316 is correct. you dont have to loosen or remove anything. you can turn the engine and the cam by hand to line the marks up.
