Brake issues

hello, i have a 2009 ford ranger and i recently got my front brakes redone after i had them fail, and the front drivers side wheel bearing blew up. but now randomly when i press the brakes, the brake will make this grinding sound, and will slide and make the pedal tweak out. it happens at random, and is mainly when i am turning and braking and when braking in reverse. and when coming to a stop from a slow speed! any advice is welcome, a i will answer ant question you may have. thanks

If you paid a shop to fix the brakes, I'd take it back.

If not you'll probably need to get the wheel(s) off (one at a time!) and try wiggling things. Sounds like something is loose.

Here's a theory - don't take it to the bank - let's see if someone here can sanity check this.

You mentioned blown up wheel bearing. Is this a 2wd or 4wd truck? I don't know which models in 09 had front ABS but incorrectly installed or broken tone ring (or sensor) could definitely cause grinding noises and also cause the ABS to engage at inappropriate times, hence the pedal pulsating.

Edit: also agree it's probably a good idea to have that shop check their work.

i have taken the truck back, and it never happens to the mechanic, and when it did happen he blames it on the "breaking in" phase, but i feels like a abs thing, and they are no help at the shop

it is a 2wd, and they did attempt to fix the " incorrectly mounted" abs sensor, and it helped, but it came back the next 10 miles after.

You might get a very slight break-in on new brakes, although everything should be settled in there after a few miles of driving if they're installed correctly. However, you don't want to be "breaking in" your ABS sensor. They don't take to grinding very well.

So your mechanic did at least confirm you do have ABS in front? And did he say what he thought was breaking in?
