Brake/Gas Pedal Height

I have a question about the height of the brake pedal and the gas pedal. My brake pedal is the same height from floor as the clutch. No problem. My gas pedal is at least 3 inches lower than the brake pedal. I have to lift my foot up to get to the brake. If I slide my foot straight over from the gas pedal my foot winds up almost under the brake.

Should it be this low? I'm having back problems because of how I have to lift my leg to get to the brake. It's ok for highway driving. You just keep your foot on the gas. But it kills me for driving around town in start and stop traffic.

Could something be bent or misaligned?

Thanks for your help in advance.

You probably wouldn't like the small amount of travel if you lowered the pedal and made it the same depth as the gas pedal.

I suppose you could re-fabricate the brake and clutch pedal to allow you an easier way to get to it without also making the stroke shorter.

try the throttle cable mod in the tech library, it might raise your gas pedal up enough to make it easier on you.

After making this post I did find the gas pedal cable mod in the tech section. Being a 94 it did have some slop in it. I added the tie wraps. It seems to have helped a little bit.

I can measure a good 2 1/4" difference between the two pedals.

I don't really want to have to fabricate anything. Are all the Ranger pedals like this? Or is it just mine?

I would think that the brake and gas pedal would need to be the same height. In case you need to make a quick braking action.

thx

can youl lift the thottle pedal up 2 where it is even with the brake? if so nay be time to get a new throttle cab, or check the bolt that ataches it to the firewall:icon_thumby:
