when i step on the brake the right turn light in dash lights up i have checked all bulbs they seem fine when the flashers are turned on the left front doesn't work but the bulb is good any ideas

Check the ground at the turn signal light.

First off, do you have a wiring harness for a trailer? If so has somebody sliced into the factory harness or is it a plug in adapter for the trailer harness? If the factory harness has been spliced chances are it wasn't done properly and you have corrosion problems like mine had. 9 times out of 10 people who slice the wires just cover the connections with electrical tape. My suggestion is re splice it but this time instead of using butt connectors, use shrink tube (Grote P/N 84-5006 dual wall is the best). Trust me, I build harnesses for logging trailers, so you need something that keeps out the moisture, and this stuff works awesome. I've never had a harness I built come back with problems, and I never had a problem with my truck harness since I redid the wiring at the back. :icon_thumby: Good luck with that and I hope that this helps.

Do you have red or amber turn signals on the back?, ie. is the rear four or five wire.? I would guess it's four wire and the problem is you turn signal switch.

The 96 B4000 has a five wire system (seperate turn signal from brake light)

little more info just had clutch replaced 2 weeks ago starter just went 5 days ago light issue came up 3 days ago p/s pump just let go today replaced starter 3hours ago
question should i take this out and shoot it now or keep going and fixing it
if i should fix it how hard is a p/s pump to replace?

If you shoot it you will then have body work to do also. You'd probably run out of ammo before you killed it completely.

true and with the price of bullets it would be cheaper to fix. any idea where i can find a step by step how to change the p/s pump?

They are usally pretty reliable trucks. :dunno: It looks like your best friend will be one of those Haynes manuals though. The pumps are pretty easy to change, just follow the step by step instructions in the manual, or you might want to try googling 1996 ranger p/s pump replacement.
