Body mount brackets?

If they let you, you can probably pull some off a junkyard truck. Just un bolt the cab from the mount and then get rid of the rivets and it will come right out of the truck.

Yeah, but lack of power tools in a JY and getting rivets out of a truck with the fuel tank on the other side would be a bitch, no?

Turns out that I bought an entire set of good mounts off of an older frame out of a junkyard. They cost me a total of $15 or $20, I can't quite remember exactly.

Hit them up and see what they'll sell them to you for. Most junkyards will even pull the frame up to the shop and cut the mounts off with a torch or angle grinder. They should do that for you, since you're bringing them some f*cking business. Hahaha.

Oh, and I went with polyurethane bushings after I put on new mounts. Those make a HELL of an improvement!

i need a core support bracket. :( the factory bracket is welded on... i need some brackets for my ext cab also. but the rear is different then a standard cab. i think ill have to fab some up soon...

good luck.

as far as driving it... well it could be bad if the cab came to rest on the frame. i would worry and the engine rubbing the hood and wiring and stuff but i shouldn't speak. mine don't look much better...

Volrath, for the core support brackets, I ended up welding a piece of 3/16" plate metal on top of them. I cut them to square and cut the right size hole in them first.

It certainly is too much work to grind off the entire bracket and weld on a new one...

If I was to replace the body supports and do a body lift do you need the rubber bushing or can you just install a body lift and cab supports??? I was just thinking to save money could you just make brackets longer or when you install a body lift do you replace the rubber parts with the stuff in the body lift kit? I was reading and thought you had to replace worn rubber bushing or spacer with a new one then install body lift spacers. I am not sure but mine are rusting bad and I may have someone to help weld them up. Just not sure what is right or wrong. I am guessing a little give from the rubber parts are neccessary but then again people replace the bushings in front end with poly bushings. Any ideas on what will work cheap, off the top of your head are all the mounts the same hight, front ,cab, bed ??? Thanks for any help. :icon_confused:
