bit of bodywork.

never even looked at the tire cover till you mentioned it...that is pretty funny, isn't it.here's the stuff that the clear coat is made of.

once again, quality materials are required.when i mix the clear for a repair like this,i use the same cup the basecoat was mixed in.this gets a little of the color into the clear, making for a better blend.

this is the bumper/grille piece with the clearcoat on it.after drying overnight it can be reassembled.

the other repair area.the bumper was a complete repaint,so no blending is required.this is a patch repair, but when complete must look like nothing was ever done.this means that the overlap of the new paint with the old must be blended to hide the seam.this will be done tomorrow, after the clear has had a few hours to set up.don't worry if there are some flaws in the clear at this point,as long as they are not too bad.they will be dealt with in the next step.most may have noted that i am not using a fancy paint booth,as a matter of fact i am using a crude tarp shed with a dirt floor......yet i get a professional result.the building does not do the job,a person with the knowledge to get good results does.keep the weather off your truck, and you can do the same if you take care and use good materials.one other point-get a good respirator, with at least charcoal canisters...this stuff is nasty for your health.

You want to come to Terrace and paint my Mustang next year?!?! :icon_twisted:

Feel free to set up in my shop...but my car is first then! :icon_twisted:

Hopefully by then I'll be finished with the trunk floor and quarter panels...it would be nice to actually drive this thing finally.

I do not know how you do body work, I never got the catch of it

this is the reason i put this thread up-there are many here to whom bodywork is a mystery.just wanted to show it's not that difficult.expensive, but not too tough.

You got that right, that is the one thing I want to do, is to be able to say I did the body work to my car when it is finished.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions once I get into my quarter panels....that scares the bejesus outta me.

I'm happy with how my floor pans have turned out...but quarter panels everyone sees lol.
