Whats the biggest tires I can run on a 7.5 axle, with stock 3.73 gears, without having to upgrade gears?

Are you talkiing strength or gearing?

Gearing wise, I'd agree with Hahns. 235's. The 2.3 needs lower gearing. 4.10's would actually be better. Even 235's and 4.10's on my truck seem a little lacking.

Strength wise it can easily handle up to 33's replacing the spiders with a lunchbox locker, or a full carrier replacement locker.

other than country roads and jumping railroad tracks with mine, and smoking the tires once in a while, ours never did anything that needed different gearing.

Blown Rear End

I Ran a 7.5'' with 3.73 gears in my Truck for 3 months before I replaced it with a 8.8"...And i was running 37x12.50's...When I pulled out really hard on the highway and Grenaded the Spider gear assemblies leave 3" hole in the Diff. cover...so yeah...It lasted much longer than I expected...

Ive got a 97 2.3 with 7.5 and 3.73 gears runnin 31's and i dont have any problems :icon_thumby:

Ok, that gives me an idea of what size tire I want to run. Defintitly not a 37 but something like a 31. I just wanted a little more ground clearence for my axle, I didnt know if the stock gears would be ok with a bigger tire.

Thanks guys.

i had 33s with a 7.5.. and 3.73s; i didn't complain and put it abuse

I had 33's and 3.73 in a 7.5, no breakage, but my truck was a gutless POS ;missingteeth;

I continuously *spelling* run 32's on my 7.5 all day long with 4.10's. No breakage, and I've put it through some abuse man... Not 3.73's, but close. It'll handle 31's all day.
