bigger alternator

looking to put a bigger alt. on my b2 with a 2.9l, any other modles that are a direct bolt in with more amps??

i did a serch but came up with nothing, i hear something about a ford tarus working, but dont know what year or motor to look for

any help would be great

There is also a 90amp alternator built on the small diameter internal fan case but with a pivot mount that will bolt to the 2.9 engine brackets, look on later Ford Tempo's.
The problem with this alternator is that pulley alignment is a serious problem."

Yes you can take an alternator from other rvb's. Most bolt up to your existing bracket. Even though they may be physically bigger they will work fine and with most, you use the same belt. I'd say hit the junkyard. Hollander #758 is a 130 amp model(96-98 4.0 exploders and optional on some rbv's 96 and up) and the # 504 is the 95 amp (can be found in most rbv from 91 and current). The later ranger engines (4.0, 3.0, 2.3) alternators do not interchange with the 2.9 alternator. The 2.9 alternator is an "offset ear" alternator. The 130 amp taurus alternator off of the 3.0 can be made to fit but it requires machining and fabbing of a bracket to make it work right, as well as some wiring. Ive done it, its been two years with no issues.

Im pretty sure that lmc truck sells hi amp direct bolt in replacement alternators.
