BFG All Terrains T/A KO or General AT^2

thats wierd, someone else here said they were more expensive too. maybe these local places are jacking up the price because its winter. i got mine from a local place in the u.p. but that was during the summer.

i just looked at tirerack and the bfgs were $197 and grabbers $116. holy wah!

im in canada, so that might make a difference, but 285/75/16 BFGs were 240, generals were 285. but i looked at a place in the states and they are $100 less per tire. so when i get tires, im definitely going to the sates

i usually swaer by bfg a/t's. but this winter proved me wrong. we got over 2 feet of snow and those bfgs did HORRIBLE. if you hit the center median on the freeway (which has about less than an inch of snow). it pulls so hard that we almost lost control of the truck because we werent prepared. and those tires just spun in the snow onced the tread was packed with ice. but other than snow, i believe bfg a/t's are the best tires you can go with

thats true. both these tires grip TOO good sometimes on the edge.

What are you going to be driving on majority of the time? BFGs suck in the mud.

The general Grabbers really are just as good as or better than the bfg's. bfg's have the reputation, that's all.

Now that General is by Continental they are producing a much higher quality tire then in years past.

I run mt's now but if I was buying at's I wouldn't hesitate for a second to go with the Grabbers.

I have been looking at every review possible the last few days and I have taken a look at the BFG's, The Generals, and the Firestone Destination A/T's.

I am looking for a tire to handle the street and highway driving I do daily. I also want a tire that can get me down the offroad trails on the weekends with my friends. Also have a cabin in Shaver Lake so good snow and winter traction is important too.

I'm leaning towards the grabbers, or the Destination A/T's, the BFG's are a little too expensive when I can get the same thing in the grabbers or destination A/Ts and save some money.

I like the Destination AT's because they kick ass offroad (yes I take my non-lifted 2wd truck offroad) and still handle well on the pavement. Plus, I've only seen one or two other trucks with the Firestones, but everyone and their mother has the BFG's. (From what I've read) the treadwear on the Firestones is excellent, I haven't really had mine long enough to personally comment on that one.

edit: I'll be putting a lift,gears, locker and bigger tires on my truck soon and will likely go with the Destination ATs again based on my experience with them so far. Bridgestone 695s are also good all-terrain tires. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Yes, I will. My truck is rolling on a set of these. Got 25K+ and they still look like new

Edit: when I got them 2 years ago from tirerack they were right at 400 with shipping

Absolutely. I love my grabbers. When I had my bfg's I thought they were the greatest tires in the world, but then I got my AT2's. And they are proving themselves a great tire, and I like them more.

Where are you getting the 32" grabbers?????

I can't find these tires anywhere that are 32"

Even if you look at general tires homesite, they don't offer a 32"

I was looking at the General Grabbers LT305/70R16 The overall diameter is 32 inchs, since I was stepping up to a 16 inch rim anyways

the bfg ats are fine if you plan on mabey driving down a dirt road
me and a buddy saw them everwhere thought man they must be good
and they suck we got a brand new set and took them to themud and got stuck in a hole the we use to go threw 5 or 6 times a weekend on bald a$$ street tires
the bgfs would get stuck on wet grass

Man I guess I'll just stick with my Geolanders. They've failed me in mud and deep sand (4wd wasn't working back then) but when it comes to snow and ice they've passed with flying colors. Everyone keeps saying that BFGs are the best tire and now I'm hearing that they are just as bad as everything else that people complain about. Geolander A/T-S, $150 apiece through AAFES (sorry all you non-military folks).

That's how I feel about the Toyo Open country AT. Except they haven't failed me.

As far as snow and ice, look at the side-by-side pic above. Notice the little holes on the sides of the AT2's tread area? That's for studs. BRING ON WINTER!!

i would say that since they are soo similar i would go with which ever one has the best deal. the money you would save will be worth more that wich tire is a TINY bit better.
