I'm looking for a B2 and I'm wondering is there is a a generation that is better for this conversion. Thank you for your time. RS

What exactly are you swapping in?

5.0 I think would be the canidate but I'm open to better ideas.

4.0 would be basically a direct bolt in, it would be best to start with a B2 that was already FI so the fuel system would already be there. I would say 89-90 would be best.

I have seen and driven the 4.0L in a B2 and it was nice but there is no substitute for a 5.0L and a 5 sp, gotta love the sound of the 5.0L winding out.
Although the manual trans isn't the easiest swap in the small engine compartment.

IMHO, as long as the B2 had EFI and the fuel system is in good working order then things should be good.

I think it all depends on what your doing with the truck....

The 4.0's are cheap, found easily, and bolt in. There couldn't be a better/cheaper candidate.

With a 4.0 and proper gearing, a BII will do anything you want off road...

If your looking to mud drag it or something, then I can see a 5.0.

I'm going to use it as a part time DD. I have an other car I will drive most of the time but in bad weather I will be taking the Bronco. That said it is going to fixed up. In fact I'm sure I will spend more time working on it that driving it!

Thanks for the input and advice. RS

BlackBII has a point functionality, a biggy... but when driving 5.0L or maybe a 289 cu in V-8 there is no substitute; the sound, the feel, hard to replace with a 4.0L.

Luck on the choice.
