Best/Worst Cars/Trucks

In order from best to worst

86 F150 in my sig - tons of problems but love it anyway
79 Datsun 210 - this thing would NOT die.
86 Ranger in my sig - oddly reliable
87 Plymouth colt vista - another that wouldn't die
80 F100 - horrible steering, but could light up the tires like crazy.
87 Chevy Nova - expensive piece of shit
88 Ranger in my sig - nice and worn out at 92k
89 Probe - another very expensive piece of shit. Bought it, 120 miles later blew the tranny. Sat for 5 years and then traded for tires on the '86.
85 F150 - cracked frame, fun though
73 Dodge camper in my sig - ****ing electrical problems everywhere

Also have had an 84 F150 and the B2 in my sig that I have never driven. It's safe to assume that they would be at the bottom of the list though.

Best: Toss up between '71 Ford LTD Hardtop. Bought it used with 6,000 miles on it, was running fine when I sold it at 375,000 miles. Nothing but routine maintenance. Damn thing always drank brake fluid - had to fill up the master cylinder every week with brake fluid, but no other problems at all.
And a '90 Lincoln Town Car. Rental car that I bought with 3,000 miles on it. Had a bunch of settling in problems that were all covered by warranty. All 4 power window actuators failed 2 to 5 times each, but always covered. Finally got tired of it at 300,000 miles and traded it for my '03 Ranger but it was still running great.

Worst: '59 Volkswagen Beetle. Bought new with 0 miles on it. Had a top speed of 50 mph if you found a long enough downhill run. Constant problems. Finally got so fed up with it, I gave it to my sister. After 5 years or so she traded it for something else after she jumped off the end of the paved road and landed centered on a big rock and broke off all the engine mounts.

Other cases that weren't really best or worst:
'60 Corvair that I gave $60 for. Was a worn out POS when I got it. Fixed it up enough for daughter to drive for a couple of years, then sold it for $100. She had to push it home about 1/2 the time but the exercise was good for her. We always knew when it happened, as she would come in red in the face and panting. The engine kept falling out; I would put a jack under it, push it back into place, put in another bolt with locktite, wedge nut, cotter pins and anything else I could find - next week, engine falls out again.
'78 T-Bird that I bought new with 0 miles. At 75,000 miles absolutely everything on the car was completely worn out. The last 20,000 without 4th gear and the last 5,000 without 3rd gear.
'66 Corvette. Bought new with every possible option specified, factory order. Only had 1 minor annoying problem that I was never able to fix. Sold it at 24,000 miles for $2,500 to a guy who got it to put up on blocks as an investment. I saw one exactly like it sell on the classic auction the other day for $1,550,000. Sort of wish I had kept it.

79 Datsun 210 - this thing would NOT die.

My dad had a datsun 210, he sold it to a friend who needed it with 350k miles on it. She got it to 500k and it still ran strong last he heard from her. My grandpa had a 280zx, that thing has 350k+ miles on it (odometer is broken) and its still moving (although its second clutch is beginning to slip). I'd love to have a 280zx..

78 T-Bird with a 4th gear?

Yep. Would shift to 4th (overdrive) at about 70 if floored. 45 was about top in 2nd, but i was driving it around town all the time and i could live with it for a little while.

The most ****ing reliable form of transportation has been god damn Public Buses. A little late sometime. But for the most part I know they are commin.
I've owned 41 Cars/Trucks/SUVs and 1 Van. And ALL of them have problems. My 2005 Grand Cherokee Laredo even has issues. 02 Sensor harness was laying on the Muffler. Burnt wires. 727$ to Fix.

But my most reliable vehicle has been a 1996 Dodge Avenger 2.5L I've owned it for 10 years. and it has NEVER EVER EVER let me down. I feel bad I just park her and use it when I need it. 147,XXX Miles got it with 19K from an old lady.

Yep, they are certainly cool cars. I shouldn't have sold mine because I will never find another one. It had 170k on it when it left my possession. My buddy gutted the interior and dirt raced it on some backroads. Then he snapped the pinion shaft and it's sitting in his yard now. Sad.

G&B cars

The worst vehicle I've owned,V-8 Chevy Durango Plush van with captain seats, I fergit what year, no foot room for ether front seat, engine was a real bitch to work on, I bought it used just to haul my R/C planes.

The best so far is the 1996 GMC Suburban I driving now, I bought used 3 years ago, fully equipped and I tow a 4600 lb 25' travel trailer with it.

Other good cars I've had were a 69 and 72 GTO each with 400 engines and 4-speeds. 1966 Olds Toranado all white and a 1979 BMW 530i 4-speed.

Bought my 88 Ranger Super cab 2.9 auto 4 years ago and had to rebuild the trans, since then I've made many off road mods, most of the time it's on trails and I' ain't never broke nothin.... YET :headbang:

Best:
1. 1968 Mercury Montego MX Convertible: First car and was a fun car. Still miss it.
2. 1985 Honda Accord LX: First new car I ever had. Bulletproof. It was like a little tank. Fun to drive.
3. 1989 Honda Accord LX: Second new car. Same as the 1985
4. 1986 Chrysler Town & Country Wagon: Paid $250 for it , put 100K on it, no major problems, good work car.Sold out of my yard for $1300.
5. 1987 Chevy Nova: Not a bad car ,had 135K on it when I got rid of it. Neighbor bought for 1K.
6. 1993 Ford Ranger Reg.Cab: Had some issues but liked it. Found out I would never have a Regular cab again.
7. 1995 Ford Ranger Supercab: Bought new 2.5L 5sp. Put 165 K on it. Dependable as all get out. Wife hounded me to get rid of because of high miles. This is my favorite of the 4 Rangers I have owned. Almost cry everytime I see it.
8. 2000 Honda Odysssey: Good van. Held resale well.
9. 2000 Ford Taurus: Bought new, still have. Daily driver 125 miles a day, 173K on it. Dependable as all get out-refuses to die. Did have to break down and put new springs and suspension links on it yesterday. Now it rides like a new car.
10. 1994 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible: Fun car, dependable except for junk transmission.
11. 2006 Honda Odyssey: Good van. Has held resale well. We like it-no problems.
12.2003 Ford Ranger Supercab: Bought used, price was right. Its a 3.0 wish it was a 4.0.
13. 2008 Ford Mustang Convertible: Loaded, Pony Package, drop-dead gorgeous and my wife and I love it.

Worst:
14. 1974 Chevy Impala: Couldn't keep an Alternator in it or a muffler on it.
15. 1979 Ford LTD: Just plain junk. 80K and used 3 qts of oil a tank.
16. 1982 Nissan Stanza: Made my mechanic very happy.
17. 1993 Chrysler 5th Avenue: Tranny went at 66K, never would shift right after 3 attempts to fix. Junk.
18. 1998 Mercury Villager: Traded #17 off on this. Bought new. In shop 56 days first yeaar. Lemon law. Junk.
19. 1996 Geo Prizm: My mechanic loved it.
20. 1994 Ford Explorer: No problems. Just never got into it.
21. 2004 Ford Ranger Supercab: Loved the 4.0, hated everything else. Ride was harsh, punishing, abusive, seats hard.

The WORST vehicle I had experience with was my mom's 1978 Chevy Malibu that she bought new. When I was six, back in 1981 and to little to know about cars yet, something broke in the differential and the passenger side axle shaft fell out and my mom was rolling on three wheels. When my mom and dad sold it, thank god they did, the headliner was falling down and it was running on six cylinders instead of eight and this what made me hate GM vehicles.
