I am installing a cargo lamp in my camper shell, opinions needed on the "correct" way to route the cable into the bed.

I'd run it up through the stake pocket, it won't get rubbed between the canopy and the box rail and it'll be protected from cargo etc. Or if you have a proper grommet you could drill a hole through the box if you want.

When I had a cap put on my Ranger, they had to wire up a third brake light and a cargo light, they brought the wires up behind the taillight and then through into the bed. I don't remember them drilling a hole but I'd have to look again, there might be a hole and grommet tucked in up near the bed rail. Then they just put some insulated spade connectors on there so that when the cap was off, the wires just got unplugged and tucked out of the way.

Ive ran wires along the truck frame to tail light into the bed with a grommet and up

LED battery powered one. Get a motion sensor one and it'll come on for you.

From what I've seen teh batteries always die when you need the damn light!:icon_surprised:

i went from the i/p fuse box, under the carpet, through the floor drain, along the frame rail and up into the drivers rear stake pocket

Not exactly the same thing, but similar problem. When I had to route a CB ANT wire to the end of the bed. I layed the wire along the frame and then up into the bed at the left front corner. Then I tied it all underneth the bed rails. Just make sure when you do the same, to leave a little slack for the frame and bed to flex with.

They did the same thing on mine. I'm guessing that might be the best way to do it.

Seems like it would be a relatively easy spot to run to and leaves things neat and out of the way, at any rate.
