One thing I wanted to add to this thread (I know its kinda old), is that it's best to grind the rivets flush with the frame, and then hit them out. That way, it doesn't give the metal a chance to get distorted and stick onto the frame while you're hitting it.
i always use a cutting torch-with practice you can cut the head off a rivet without heating up the surrounding bracket much,and it's way quicker and quieter than a grinder,and fits more easilly into tight areas.as a bonus,the red hot rivet punches out of the frame easier.
im with gwaii on this one, if youre steady enough with a torch you can use the frame rail as a vertical guide and just slide it along as you torch the head off, then just give it a zap with the air hammer.
