I think I have decided on size of rim and tire for my 97, because I will be keeping it stock (no lift) for now I'd like to get the most out of what I can for size. It looks like the biggest I can get on 97 2WD is the 235/75 r15, I'd like to go with a 15x8 wheel if I can, I checked the forums and it lists the max size tire but for the wheels it doesn't really state if it will fit a 15x8 with that size tire. Anyone have any experience with this type setup? I'm really looking to make a decision in the next day or so. Any help would be great!

A 235 will fit on an 8" rim but it will look kinda stretched. I'd use a 7" if it were me.

Thanks for the advice! :icon_thumby: I'm going with the Pro Comp Series 98 for the wheels...with the round hole design in flat black...I think they look sweet. I'm still deciding on the tires...I think I want to go as aggressive as I can in an All Terrain type tire since we do get alot of snow/ice up here in RI (otherwise I would be going with a mud tire). These seem to be my choices in the size and price range...what do you think, they will be going on 15x7 wheels with a tire size of 235/75 r15 :

General Grabber AT 2
Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac
Cooper Discoverer S/T
Mastercraft Courser C/T
BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A KO

I'm lookin' forward to getting this hooked up! When I start getting this Ranger together I will post pics...before, during and after. I'll be doing alot of work over time...paint job included....I've been needing a project vehicle again and now I have it! Thanks again for the advice, if anyone has input on the tires and or experience with these choices let me know.

If snow performance is important I'd get the Generals or BFG's. I know they're good, have not seen any reports on the others. The only tires decent on ice are purpose-made snow and ice tires with a rubber compound designed for it, like Bridgestone Blizzaks.

Thanks again for the advice....much appreciated, I've narrowed it down between the Generals and the Goodyear Duratracs....pretty sure I'm going with the Duratracs, they seem to have great feedback and ratings for all weather. And they look really cool..lol.
