best gain w/a 2.3

well i gave up on the turbo idea but anyone have any ideas how to get some speed and/or bottom end either or out of my 2.3? i've got some buddies with throttle body spacers and they seem to help a little on bottom end and fuel econ but its hard to find them for my 2.3 it seems. so any suggestions on some little ways to tune it up. im plannin on keepin it till it dies and i run the piss out of it. i just need some ways to maybe get a little more out of it. if any suggestions let me know thanks guys.

The problem is that the inefficiency in the 2.3 is deep in the motor, and simple bolt ons won't fix anything. The port design is pretty outdated and doesn't flow well, so to get any real power, you have to port the head.

That being said, you could probably get a cam that would wake it up a bit. Cams are not cheap though, you are looking at $350. Bo-Port.com has very reputable cams and a stage 1.5 might be what you want.
