Best choice for Tough truck...

I dont think a 300 weighs to much more then a 302, granted they are not as fast, BUT...If my radiator, oilpan, hoses, or combination thereof gets taken out i think a 300 would have a better chance of still holding togther then a 302 or 351 would, PLUS, from what ive seen its not the fastest truck that wins its the one that takes the best pounding as is able to finish (usually only 2 or 3 trucks make it to the finish), and you cant get much tougher then a Early 80's Ford with a I6 and a manual. Unless its a 70s Ford with a I6 and a manual...but id rather not destroy one of those :)

A 2.3 is seriously about the same weight as a 302. I think the truck would risk falling apart before either the durability of the SBF vs 300 came into question. :icon_thumby:

I'd say a f-150 with a HO-5.0 and a 4spd.

Trucks- is the f-150 auto or manual?

Marine tank- I've never used one but it can't be too hard. Do you have a plug and wires for it? Test what wires do what by running pos, neg wires to a batt then label them or write it down. Test the wires on the truck with a test light. Bolt it to the inside of your bed and hook the wires up accordingly but you might have to extend the wires.

I was hoping to adapt the stock fuel tank to pump fuel from the marine tank...i wasnt aware you could buy marine tanks with electric pumps in them already?

I think its an auto...

I don't know anything about marine fuel tanks. Can you post some pictures of it?
