Any Canadians out there have opinions about who to go with for welding gas? I've checked a couple local places and like many things Canadian, they're only used to dealing with tradesmen who don't ask questions about price (fair dues to those of you pros) and they get irritated when you ask. The problem is that they have a pretty wide range of fees- signup fees, subscription fees, rental fees, bottle fees, and refill fees. Oh, and none that I spoke to will refill a bottle they don't sell (at around $400-500) or rent.

I'd appreciate any insight into the best companies (in Canada) to deal with for a hobbyist welder. Cheers!

KMSTools exchanged outdated acetylene cylinders straight across for good ones for me. I had enough that they exchanged for the gas too. For oxygen I bought new from an independent that does certifications for Linde, don't remember the name.

Thanks for that. Sadly I'm out east and they seem to be a western-only company. Looks like they bought out House of Tools, which I remember shopping at when I lived in Prince Rupert. I don't think there was a House of Tools in Rupert though so I'm wondering if I was there in Terrace or Prince George or somewhere else along the Yellowhead highway.
