best 31" on wet road?

ah bullshit. I will only run the sidewall recommendation. The door jam spec is great if you are running stock tires or similar. I find it rediculous to run a 50PSI tire at 30PSI. In the vally of the sun when its 115 degrees your tires may blow out under perfect pressure. I'll be damned if I will underinflate here in Arizona when underinflation and hot asphalt are the number 1 and 2 causes of tread separation

I call bullshit on that as well...That is not under inflating them. The pressure on the sidewall is the max pressure the tire can handle at max weight load. The sidewall specifically states to follow vehicle manufacturers recommended specification.

What does the sitcker on an FX4 recommend?

At the 40 psi I was running the wear was even across all of the tires except about a finger width on each side. Will 3/4 of an inch of a 10.5 inch tire make that much difference.

Sorry, I read through it to fast and didn't realize that. The majority of people put up what they were running, said to start at the factory 30psi for stock tires, or go based on wear.
I didn't mean to offend anyone, just trying to get all the information available. I did try some poking around on the internet trying to find something saying what ford recommended for a ranger with 31's, but didn't get anywhere.
That being said I have them at 33psi now, and during the rain yesterday they were decent. I will change that based on wear of the tires. Wet traction went up but the ride was worse. I had to fight with my truck to keep in a straight line and it cost me a noticable gas increase, but I did stay on the road and didn't kill anyone. Major plus, so for now I'm good.

Go with BRIDGESTONE REVO-2's its a brand new design -very cool looking tread and a 50,000 mile warranty and an even COOLER REBATE!$$$

I had the original REVO's on my previous Sport Trac and they were very good in rain and snow, off-road too. Downside, they wore out pretty fast.

As far as running 50 lb in tires that say 50 lb max on a Ranger, that is probably a D Load Range tire, i.e. rated for far more weight than a Ranger is rated to carry anyway. If you're running tires and wheels that are not the stock size or load range, all you can do is keep an eye on how they're wearing and adjust the pressure accordingly. If they're wearing more in the middle let some air out, if they're wearing more on the edges put some air in.
