Hey folks,

I need to replace the console/armrest on my '94 Ranger's bench seat. The lid latch is broken at both ends so the spring keeps it constantly open, which is a pain. The lid is also cracked in half where someone leaned an elbow too hard on it, so I'm thinking a junkyard/parts truck swap rather than trying to macguiver up a new latch.

So my question is, what year bench seats would have a center console/armrest compatible with a '94? I'm assuming it would have to be ranger, since I don't think there were any bench-seat explorers, were there?

Thanks a lot!

I've got one, straight out of a 94 60/40 bench. hit me with a pm and we can talk price.

Thanks Beef - that was a lot easier than I thought it would be!

I should have been more up-front in my OP though - I'm still in the research stage on this one. I'm on a tight budget after buying the truck, and need to replace the shifter bushings (it's like trying to shift a wet noodle...) and Serpentine belt before I get to spend money on luxuries like a functional arm rest... Oh well, for now I've got the lid bungee-corded shut. Classy :)

Sorry to get your hopes up like that, but I'll definitely send you a note once I get the big things taken care of. Is it the "flint" gray cloth, by any chance?

Thanks again!

oh ok, no prob. Haha yea I can definitely understand that. I've got a whole engine + tranny swap to take care of before my trucks even close to getting on the road..and I can't even work on it right now due to a foot of snow-.-

and yep, it is grey. since right now your working on research, all it needs is an appropriate sized allen wrench (or star bit I forget) and pop off the circular tab on the inside of the arm rest and unscrew it from the driver's side seat and its off. reverse for installation;)

i had the same problem. instead of the bungee cord, i took the seat belt for the middle seat and wrapped it around a couple times and actually fastened the belt. you may want to try that? it worked really well.

I saw a neat fix for that armrest problem using a magnet and a screw. Mine does the same thing and i'm about to fix it. I have a habit now of grabbing it before i set my arm down and if i have a passenger in the truck i always grab there arm which makes for an awkward moment...

Hey guys,

Sorry to drag this up from where-ever threads go to die... But I'm looking for this arm rest now (the fold-down arm-rest for a '94 ranger bench seat, Flint Gray). Here's a pic of the one I pulled off (latch is broken on both sides, and the plastic lid is cracked in half a dozen places).

Anyone have an intact, functional one (read: no cracked plastic, and a fully functional latch). Obviously the upholstery's gonna be worn on something this old, I just want one that works, isn't cracked, and looks decent).

I'll check the local junk yards, but thought I'd try here too.

Thanks!

hey be thankful your is in one piece lol mine the latch is broking and the top is crap in many places and the mount i broke to and just kind of just hangs there till i get a new one!!!!

LOL - yep, hard to tell in the pic, but my lid is cracked in a few places too. If you're not careful you can put your elbow right through the middle :)

my 93 ranger never had a lid on it to begin with but it still worked perfectly, it wasnt broke off like the one on my 96, that thing just flops around, makes me want to juet rip it off the rest of the way lol.Im gonna head out to a junkyard friday and look around, bad thing is, most of the armrests have already been robbed from them. Seems to be a hot item because no one knows how to NOT lean on them lol.
