Yes, the frame and size of the truck hasn't changed sense the ranger was introduced. I have seen a 1991 ranger with a a 97 bed on it.
But, I would recomend that you stick with anything from 1983-1992. I have a 91 bed on my 86 ranger, and everything lined up fine.
The reason I recomend staying with 1983-1992 is that these years are the same truck, sheet metal wise, from the cab back. So the body lines will line up. Also there are plenty of short beds for those years of trucks.
Oh and when you take your bed off, take your time and use plenty of penitrating oil. I didn't and broke one of the clamps the bolt goes through. And had a hard tiime getting it welded back in place.
