Bed Bobbing

That was my thought also was cutting out the rust and put supports in it and put expanded metal over it. That would work right? The place im talking about is where my toolbox is going to sit

yes, a new bed. all you need is chunks of the floor, so the rest can be crunched to shit. should be able to get a mangled bed cheap. you may want to cut out a chunk of your bed floor and take it with you, to make sure the "ribs" line up decently.

if you haul a lot of dirt and small stuff, i wouldn't use expanded metal.

if not, it would probably work well and be easy to hose out.

Well where the place is messed up is where my toolbox is going. Im not a fan of toolboxes that set on top of the bedrails. Mine sits in the floor so I just need something that will fill the hole in the floor and not let my toolbox fall through

If all you want is to stop your tool box from falling through, just cut the old rust metal out and get any kind of solid sheet metal and screw, rivet, or weld it in. just make sure that you anchor it pretty well. It'll look really rigged up, but it will be the cheapest and easiest way to get the job done

The area's that need to be replaces will be covered by my toolbox. If I get a sheet of say 1/8th to cover the hole I cut out, should I brace under it? Maybe some 1" angle iron or 1" square tubing?

Hopefully, the bed already has some bracing under it, but if it doesn't than yeah, you will definately need to brace it with something and either angle iron or square tubing would work, but the square tubing would be better, IMO

Those would be pretty nifty but I dont think it would work without having a flatbed
