The radio in the Ranger came to me minus the removable face plate. I just want a basic radio/cd player. Does any body have any recommendations ? I mostly listen to classic rock, sports and Books on CD TIA

if the previous owner didn't chop up the wireing harness to the radio, go for a factory headunit fromt a salvage yard, it'll do what you want for cheap and have a clean factory look to it.

Check your local pawn shops. Picked up a couple of good decks over the years for good prices. I suggest Pioneer, my wife is partial to JVC.
Heck, you might be able to pull the radio and figure out what it is a find a faceplate on Ebay or a matching deck at the pawn shops.

I can tell you right now that it won't fit. 1995+ Rangers and Explorers have the oversize dash opening that is about 1.5 times taller than your dash opening. You can only use a unit from a 94 or older Ranger or Explorer. And I don't think many (if any) were available with CD players way back then. I have a Pioneer DEH-16 for sale. Its a basic radio/CD player like you're looking for.
