Ball joint question?

On 2wd trucks the Balljoint studs pointed DOWN from 1983-88.

In 1989 the beams were changed and there after the studs pointed UP.

Now I am confused, on a 1993 4WD studs should point up? The nut is on top?

Actually on a '90-up 4x4 there is no nut on the upper.
there is a circlip that keeps the camber eccentric from walking up the
UNTHREADED Stud, but what really retains the upper balljoint is tension
from the pinch bolt.

Only the lower is threaded, and tapered.
there is no taper inside the camber eccentric.
so the upper is cylindrical and unthreaded.

to remove the knuckle from a D35 you pull the hub, rotor spindle and shaft and use a short socket and ratchet through the shaft hole in the spindle.

From forward or behind there simply isn't enough swing room.

But ALL RBV 4x4's have upward pointing studs.

Only the '83-88 2wd have studs that point down.

Thanks for the info Allen, I Knew someone would have an answer and know exactly what Changed in what year, and I would be surprised if you knew the date and time the cahnges took place lol.

But anyways, I got it all done without any problems, and surprisingly it went alot better without my friends rushing me and my Dad threatening to drag the truck out of the Garage so he could put his Cobra back.
