has anyone used this ball joint press from harbor freight?

i know all of their stuff is cheaply made i want to know if it will work for our trucks

I have had good experience with harbor freight tools. I have never used that particular press, but the most important part is the c-frame. I would guess that the kit has all the sockets needed to press out RBV joints, but if not you can always easily make one out of some pipe.

i have a harbor freight ball joint press. it worked great, ive used it more than onece without problems. ive done ball joints and u-joints with it. i payed $30 for mine but it was a little different than the one in the link. mine wasnt the 'four wheel drive' set, it was this one. it looks like for just a little more, you could have a set with a couple other pieces. may end up being worth it.

I have that exact kit.

Works great for U-joints and ball joints.

No issues with mine whatsoever.

i got one of those presses and never used it to do my ball joints, i used a hamer and deep socket.

We have a kit almost identical to that at work. I work in a very busy shop and it gets used every day without incident. For 40 bucks it's a great deal.

I have a 4wd set similar to that. Got it from Princess Auto. Used it on u-joints from the old mazda as well as u-joints on the f-350. I know Red85 used it for the ball joints on his 94 as well. Boy does it make a job so much easier. No more heating and beating the snot out a u-joint.

It's not really necessary for U-joints, but it makes it a LITTLE easier.

It makes a huge difference for balljoints. Virtually essential.

A little???? NONE of the u-joints I've had to do were close to easy using a hammer and socket. The ones using my press were done in less than a 10th of the time.

The thing is invaluable for either components in my book. Especially on the trail.

really? i have never had a prob with u-joints or ball-joints comeing out. the hammer and socket or pipe has been faster for me, just because i can slam um out and then back in.

I bought one since the one I rented from A.Z. was broken. But I have not used it yet, seems every weekend is 96+ degrees outside and just to hot to do all the work I want to do to the front end right now. I plan on replacing the front differential,ball joints,outer tie rod ends and driver side radius arm bushing.

Uh,yeah, last W.E. it was 100 degrees out and high humidity. With my health, no thank you, heat stroke is not in my blood, and yes I grew up here from birth. If it was 100 and low humidity, no problem, I have seen it get 110+ here before in my life,multiple times, and yes, snow one time in the late 70's. You snowbirds live up there with snow, and I hear ya saying "It is to cold outside to do this now, will wait", well that Interstate system works both ways!!!!

I have that same press and it worked great. however cranking on it with the impact wrench, I ended up bending the upper ring a little, but it still works it is just a little crocked now. but I'd say go for it.
