balancing issue

Um, no... Static balancing is simply the tire being in a state of balance while it's not moving (look up the definition of "static").

This is what a bubble balancer does (quite poorly, I might add), as does a tire machine that's been set to only static balance a tire (yes, a typical machine does spin the tire, but the end result is a tire that is only balanced statically).

To put every one of the weights only on one edge of the wheel (rather than in the center of the wheel) greatly increases the tire's tendency to wobble when it spins while on a vehicle (dynamic imbalance). Do you somehow think that can ever be a good thing? :icon_confused:

The 35's on my one ton are static balanced on the inner lip only (custom wheels with no outer lip) as were the 33's that I had on my 97 on the stock wheels (didn't want to pound weights on them as the wheels were pristine and didnt want to make a spot for them to corrode) Neither vehicle has any tire vibration.

for those that couldnt see that picture due to the way it was linked, here's another picture of it that should be viewable by everyone. looking at pulling the tires off after work tomorrow and getting them rebalanced (correctly) early saterday morning.

That is a h**l of a lot of weight. After seeing the picture I definitely think there is an issue with the tire or even the wheel.

i think its got a rim issue, i pulled all the tires off the truck after work today, found out i could make it to the local tire shop and did, they rebalanced all 4, the one with all that weight was the worst one, ive still got a slight vibration at 55, its a little worse at 65, didnt go any faster than that. kinda ticked, i really like the look of these wheels, but i may very well transfer these tires over to my factory "deer-paw" alloys and toss the D-windows. guess i'll drive on them a few days and see how i feel about it....

Have they tried spinning the tire on the wheel 180 degrees and rebalancing?
