So my faithful 1983 Ranger 2.8, 5 speed 4X4 of 20 years is making some sounds that are very concerning. When decelerating it momentarily "snaps" out of gear and it will lurch forward like it hits neutral for a second then catch. Hasn't done it accelerating. Then the latest thing it did was: when I shifted down from fourth to third, as I let the clutch out it ground gears just like if I had tried to shift with out a clutch. I pushed the clutch in and let it out again and it engaged. I'm thinking sincros (spelling) I posted this on the transmission forum too.
