On the way home this evening, my truck would shudder occasionally when giving the engine gas. I eased it home since something didn't seem right and about a mile from my house, the engine started shuddering constantly and the CEL came on. I drove on down to Advance to put it on the computer and the error was a misfire on cylinder 4. While looking around under the hood, though, I noticed the PCV elbow was completely pinched off right in the bend. I went ahead and replaced the PCV, but that didn't help anything. Still running rough and the elbow is still collapsed. Is this just a worn out elbow or could something else be causing it to collapse on itself? It's an 02, 3.0 with 52k. Thanks in advance for any help getting her to purr again!

Nope

It opens back up when the engine is off. Although, you can pinch it closed with your hand with little effort when it's off.

I had the very same problem about 2 months ago. I tried to with a DIY hose and valve. By the time I finished , with all the time spent with "know it all" parts counter people ,working on the new hose , it just wasn't worth the hassle. I finally went to the dealership and bought the pcvl valve and elbow as a unit and installed it

Well...

A PCV assembly, plugs, wires, and a coil pack later, she's back to her old self again :) The coil pack did the trick, apparently, but the other stuff didn't hurt either. Thanks for the help everyone!
