i mite be retarded but you myfriend are equally as retarded. what do you do once its in drive and you need to let it down of the jackstands and the tires are spinning? still requires a person to hold the brakes or a working parking brake! now who is the jackass?:icon_rofl:

follow these steps

guy 1 hops in truck and puts parking brake on, guy 2 jacks up rear of truck, puts jackstands underneath it, puts wheel chocks under the front wheels, examines the shifter linkage, fix linkage, put the jack back under the pumpkin, knock jackstands over with a long 2x4, lower jack, truck drives away, done.....no need to be dangerous or stupid....

oh and please for the sake off humanity.....wear a condom.......

jackass, my way dident even involve geting the stupid truck off the ground! you over think things.you are way to safe for any trail fun with me. although why lift it off the ground in the first place if you have 2 people? a parking brake and the assistant holding the brakes is plenty of safety for me not to mention there is ZERO risk of it falling on you. lets discontinue this retarded debate and be happy he got his truck home without any extra expense.

you have obviously never had a parking brake fail have you??? i have had 3 parking brakes fail on 3 different occasions, 3 different vehicles, who is to say that there isnt snow on the ground and his buddies boot slips off the brake pedal?? yeah its a freak accident but taking 5 extra minutes to put jackstands and wheelchocks under the axle and wheels on top of the parking brake and buddy on brakes......maybe you should lose a good friend to a stupid shop accident....it will make you rethink EVERYTHING you EVERYDAY......

Finally stopped pouring and had time after work, got it into the garage. I can manually shift the trans from underneath, and the bottom of the shifter looks fine.. follow the cable.. it wore through the protective sheath and right to the cable against the y-pipe of the exhaust. I am going to get a new cable tomorrow, but started taking the old one off tonight. How do I get the cable out of the bracket on the trans? It looks like its more "C" shaped then just a "U" to slide out of.
