bad 2 weeks :(

when my truck was brand new it went to the bottom of houghton lake after falling through the ice...original ower had it then i am the second.


four years later, it started on fire due to the corrosion in the light switch and wiring, i was on my way to work at hi speed at the time, at night when the cab started filling with smoke, heavy thick white smoke...and fast, then the lights went out and all i seen was a glow through the column and under dash, i just barely got the coulumn plastic ripped out and the fire out...i was able to direct rig the headlightsd under the hood and the flashers still worked...made it to work just a little late iirc.


if i had left it running at the gas pump or outside to warm up while i was getting ready for work when that happened it would have ended up like yours...i was lucky.



ya just never know.

no noone was hurt, i apreciate the parts offer and actually im parting out the burned truck but if anyone has a complete 4.0 i need one for my other ranger which is 94 xlt 5spd. no clue how the fire started, im thinking tranny fluid leak on exhaust manifold maybe??

mine caught fire but not as bad i sunk mine in a pond and on the way home fluid dumped out the front seal onto the exhaust but i was lucky it didnt burn that bad . i had to replace the motor and tranny from the fire . i do have a 4.0 motor 2 with about 20,000 to 30,000 miles from jasper plus i have a tranny and case to go with it for $700.00 . thats a hell of a saving considering what i paid for the combo. if your interested shoot me an email . cbluepit1@cox.net

no insurance wont cover it, i only have basic coverage. no fire no theft no collision no nuthin. just to get the truck out of the water cost me 450. it was $150/hr and it took 2 hours but the second hour they had to get another truck out there, just one wouldnt pull me out.

this is an overall view, the damage stopped dead after the cab. by bedliner isnt even melted

my super clean interior!!

the fire was so hot, it melted half of the rim!!

good 'ole craftsman tools, they're a little blackened but they still work! and the DeWalt impact and drills still work for now as well! but the battery is melted on to the drill so once it dies i have to either cut it off or get a new one. (i like new toys!! time to get an 18 volt!)

dude that sucks big time, sorry to hear this. if you decide to upgrade the drills and get the 18v let me know I would be interested in buying the melted ones off ya.

I know a guy that was actually IN his car when that happened, someone saw it start and pulled him out, he didn't even know it was burning. Started at the back.

i actually was in the truck when it happened. i was on the way home from the tranny shop, where i had a local genius look at it and he told me it was on "borrowed time"! the truck didn't even make it home. o well. koda - i cant remember which specific thread it came off of but i no it was out of the Garage forum, i was an idiot and didnt actually grab the quote
