Has anybody ever modified there tailgate so that you could open it from the inside? I go muddin alot, and being able to open the rear hatch from the inside to hook a strap up would be nice. It would be nice to someone elses setup before I give it a try.

havnt done it but thats a good idea, it shouldnt be to hard to rig something up for that, its a pretty simple latch, let us know how it goes and what you do

Do you have a one piece or two piece rear hatch?. If a two piece which one do you want to open?

Never made anything specific, but my inside cover was missing for a long time & without it there, it is pretty easy to open from inside. It does come in very handy.

If somebody comes up with an easy mod, post it up please. I would like to do it myself. :icon_thumby:

its a one piece. I thought about just ditching the inside cover but im going to try and rig something up. Ill be sure to post pics if I do, but it would be to soon since i broke some stuff last weekend:black_eye:

when you dont have the panel on it, it is really easy to open thats how i usually open mine because it is broke from the outside. all you have to do is remove the panel and there are to little latches that you have to push down and it will open right up

I wonder if they ever made an electric opener, like they have on some of the fancy cars. that might be one option.
There is a rod that goes from each side catch to a bellcrank at the handle. A cord attached to the rod and arranged to pull sideways would also work.
