axles pro and cons?? needing tips

Something I have heard on various go arounds on pirate 4x4. The only reasoning I can honestly think that would cause the shafts to last is a TTB removes housing flex. You can watch a D30 longside tube bend when the vehicle is flexing.

It wouldn't remove it, it just puts another u-joint in the mix which makes it irrelevant.

Sweet thanks for the tips and the links ill be looking in to them. I just got a explorer 31 spline 8.8 410 limited today :headbang:, now looking into what i want to do to the front.
couple things tho??
Is the lunch box locker the lock right set up that replace the spider gears or is it a diff.
how good are the ttb for like off road racing/ like baja style races?
and as for me wanting the d30 my plan first was put the 31 spine g2 axles and arb locker set up in before swapping it in once i get the $$$$.
just kinda interested in learn other cheaper options first

Dude, forget the D30.
If you're thinking of Baja-style action, it would be stupid to not use the TTB D35 (a solid axle's unsprung weight and lack of independent action tends to kill your handling at speed).

You want the cheapest option... Keep what you got, drop whatever locker of your choosing in it (I would suggest getting the Jeep hubs too), build your suspension for it (keeping in mind the info given from those previous links), and go have some fun.
Camburg and Autofab both have some real nice stuff if you want to go fast... Otherwise Skyjacker or James Duff is good (or build your own... Things like extended radius arms are simple to make). You'll probably want to get rid of the Rough Country in any case though.

Yes, "lunchbox" refers to the style locker that replaces the spider gears in your stock diff (as opposed to a carrier-replacement unit such as the ARB or Detroit).

I love my D30 but wouldnt do any Baja action with it or jumping. I would keep that kind of stuff for TTB or IFS setups.

kinda looking to do both but from what i'm reading the ttb would be the best right??
and i got the explorer axle and leafs in and i'm not wanting to use any blocks to match the fronts 6in lift any one got drawings for some shackles i can make with lengths and parts i can use??
i have the tools to fab accept for a mill.

you don't want shackles that tall... I put the Belltech 6400 shackles on mine ($35, easier than making them) and when I rolled my truck the shackle brackets on the frame bent a lot, had to fix them redneck style... :). My leaf pack uses explorer leaves and some others we found hanging around and I still had to use 3" blocks and my spring perches that had about 3/4" lift and the Belltech shackles to match the front 6" lift

ya i just went with a 4 inch block for now till i can buy the shackles i need but other then that swap went quick 410 gears and the posi helps it get up and go easier :headbang: but my ABS light is on now and ive reset the battery and checked the cable everything is hooked up right as far as i know. does swaping to disc brakes just make that come on??
