Axle Strength Quick Question

I'm not 100% sure on that, but I do know that some have radius arms, 87-91 for sure, as well as other years, but I don't think they are the same as the 44 arms...

hmmm ill have too look in to that. thanks for the help

Im going with a custom adjustable setup, longer than either the 44 or the 60 arms, so I'm not worried how they mount or if they are the same...

Oh come on Andrew....I run a similar setup and didnt break anything!

With a doubler, auto and 6cyl, and you weigh a WHOLE lot less then a ranger! His specs say v8... He needs a 60 up front.

No D60 equipped F250/350 had radius arms until '05.

You can make the C wedges work on a D60, check James Duff website for wedges and spacers.

I'm a cheap ass and don't wheel hard. I'm also not planning on a SAS anytime soon, but I'm holding on to some parts I have for if I do decided to SAS.

The parts I'm holding onto are a '75 D44 hi-pinion from an F100 (factory 297 (760) u-joints), disc brake swap parts from a '79 F150, C6 with a 460 bellhousing, and a 205 t-case. Not in the plans, but I also have a leaf spring D44 from a '79 F250 and an extra set of outters from an F250 for if I decide to go with an 8 lug rear when swapping in the F100 D44 front.

The plan would be to have the long side tube narrowed around 6", which allows me to run stock-sized early Bronco shafts. It will be the same width as an EB D44, only a hi-pinion axle. Get a set of aftermarket shafts for an EB. The c-wedges are welded on, so I can cut off and relocate the passenger side wedge to where it needs to be. Then swap on either the 5 lug or 8 lug disc brakes depending on what rear end I use.

I'd like to use an Explorer 8.8" with the shafts and discs drilled for the 5x5.5" pattern, otherwise maybe run adapters.

Just so you know, the driver side on FW and EB axles are NOT the same, the driver side inner on a FW is longer than an EB inner, so you can't just order a set of EB axleshafts unless you shorten the driver side as well :icon_thumby:

It's around 1/4" IIRC, you'll just have a little bit less then factory spline engagement. It will work just fine, most places would let you order normal stubs with mixmatched inners if you called them anyways.
