aweful stench

haha i have one of those mini bbq's i should have a bbq in my brothers truck, maybe that will get rid of it? add some hickory chips etc.

good suggestions. i actually took off his seat covers and washed them and cut down the 60/40 to make buckets. so they are like new smelling.

any easy way to take apart the ducts?
i took apart the intake tubes and looked at the filter to make sure, and its clean as a whistle.

ive been working under the truck for a few weeks now and havent seen anything conspicuous , but he did go mudding right when the thing broke. so i cant really tell.

a side note, the truck was in the garage for 6 months until two days ago. so, it is very possible that a cirtter found a new home over the winter.

when i was up in lake siminoe in wyoming a few weeks ago. the feild mice made a nest under my buddys intake plenum. in two days.
was a mess, almost started a fire on the way home.

Just after I picked up my (new to me) 2001 Ranger There was a stench that was awful after I got home :( strippesd the cab and found what looked like "milk-shake" spilled under the seat. Used a '"Pet ordor & stain remover". An enzime cleaner that gopes after everything. Cleaned up my truck slick as a whistle.

Goodd Luck

Ron V :) :)

comming from some where inside this truck, it has no seats no carpet, just bare bones... WHERE IS IT COMMING FROM!?!?!

does anyone have any ideas of how to get rid of it, other then sending it to the scrapper or the people who clean hursts?

Maybe you should take those bear bones out and it won't smell anymore :icon_rofl:

Well, if you don't see anything in the vents and you looked real hard under the seats and in any storage area then....it must be you upper lip...either shave it or wash it...lol

Hope you find what it is.....maybe the coolent needs to be changed?? I know this is weird..but one of my buddies had a funny smel lunder the hood of his Jeep one day when he stopped by. Man....funky order. It was the coolent. We went to Walmart and bought some antifreeze (petsafe) and flushed out the radiator and put some cleaner flush stuff we bought. Man....that did the trick. He just had some very old coolent in hi ol TJ.

living in the middle of the mojave desert and dealing with the varments on a regular basis i would put my vote to something died in it. my moms van was sitting in our garage while the trans was getting r&r'ed and 2 field mice found their way into it and stank it up something aweful. i would try the vinager or the charcole method or keep a bottle of fabreze with you eventually it will kill the smell after a bottle or two.

check the head liner. i found shrimp that a buddy pranked me with.

haaha this thread is turning out kind of cool. i like hearing everyones, " yeah that was in my truck" stories.

wash the bucket seat and apply new spray clean car voila a result (clean interior your truck guys)

As everyone else said, check all of your vents. Maybe it's in the headliner??

Ok more serious if you have the seats and everything out and you have made sure nothin dead is in the truck take some vinegar and put it in the middle of your truck in a bowl or cup and let it set for a day or 2 my mom does this when she burns stuff in the house to clear the stench up quick and it never returns (or a least till she burns something else)

twice i have found dead mice in washer reservoir.

i vote something dead in the HVAC ducts... i've had to take apart a whole honda dash to find a family of chipmunks... ALIVE!! lolz

+1:icon_thumby:

well, i used to work at a hotel. so i had some spray stuff we used to use when people fouled up the beds etc. so i sprayed like half the can plus a full can of fabreeze in the ducts. so i hope that takes care of it. at least till im finished working on the truck hahaa. i named it operation mango/fabreeze bomb

Bear bones actually don't smell that bad.. it's the rotting flesh that stinks.

A picture with the truck to show that it fits in. :D

I need to get an updated picture of those.. remind me!

Anyway, you'd be amazed how bad a dead mouse smells. I had some glass bottles set outside in a truck bed for a year or so. I took them in the other day because I was broke and to be nice I cleaned them first. Most of them had redish brown to pink goo in them. Guess what that goo used to be?

haha this thread is awsome, very happy i asked. what pictures will people post next?!

Your welcome. :icon_thumby:

I had to relocate the skulls since I tore the bed of the truck apart. I can't remember where I put them.. I think they're on the roof of one of the sheds.
