Auto Train

actually they use a locking chock system....same way new cars are shipped from the factory.....

if ya have a motorcycle they load it onto a cart that holds 2 cycles and that is chocked in the same as cars/trucks....

and yes you can have a truck/trailer combo....or at least ya used to....

railman............................motorcycles too?

now you're talkin!

i would imagine the bikes get strapped in by the wheels, similar to a motorcycle trailer...

yes they do....just meant the CART was chocked in after the bikes are on the cart...

I took my jetski on the train with me a few years ago. As long as the height is okay, a trailer is no problem. You do have to pay for two vehicles since it takes up two spaces.

You do not ride in your car. They put your car in railcars, the same kind they use to ship cars from the factory, and you can either ride in coach or pay extra for a sleeper. I recommend a sleeper. Food on the train is very good. You do not have access to your car while you are on the train so don't leave anything in it that you will need, like glasses, medicine, etc.

JohnnyO.......good advice....I'm gonna check into a Las Vegas trip.....

oooops....I only looked into the auto-transport part of it.......

Went to FL three weeks ago. Pittsburgh to Ft. Myers in 19 hours flat in the Trac, averaged 18.8 mpg running mostly at 75 mph. Would have been 18:45 but we stopped at dawn at a McDonald's for breakfast.

Went to Sarasota for a day to visit my cousin and hit a piece of metal on I-75. A perfectly round hole in the tire the size of my pinky. This required purchasing a new Firestone A/T whilst in FL. Didn't want to risk going home with no spare.

Auto Train home, naturally.
