the P.O.S tranny in my truck has been replaced 5 times and still gives me shit. how hard is it to swap out the auto for a manual. the current tranny is a 4r44e.

the trans swap is the "easy" part. the hard part is swapping in the clutch pedal. getting under the dash involves laying on your side/back and twisting in unnatural ways.

He's not lying either. But remove the parking brake assembly first it makes it so much easier. Remove stuff from the donor truck first so if you break something you'll know what not to do on your truck. you will also need the wiring harness that runs down from the driver wheel well to the tranny.

The wiring harness isn't totally necessary. I completed my swap without changing the harness. It just requires soldering together a couple of wires. All my lights and electronics work.

I can give a detailed description of what you'll need to solder to get various things working. It's not hard at all, took me 15 minutes to do it all.
