Auto shifter don't leave park

You should be able to get the pig tail (the trade name for the connector and a few inches of wire) for the brake switch for about $20 or $30.
Awesome thanks dude.:headbang:

Instead I just jammed that wire back in. It finally pulled back out and is looking a little cooked. I went to El Cajon Ford yesterday and they informed my ford no longer sells this harness. Obviously if it comes down to it I can hit I junk yard. However I am wondering if I can just cut out the harness and hard wire it?

you never hard wire something unless it has to be done, just go to a jy and get one. I don't see why your having a problem with fixing something the right/easy way instead of doing it half @$$ed

Try RockAuto.com for the pigtail

Because If it works it works. I don't want to drive an hour and a half to the closest junkyard (south Chula Vista by border) through our counties gnarliest traffic without brake lights if I don't have to. Now out of curiosity, even though I am going to be it online now, would it work to hard-wire?

Ok, a new switch is what, $25? Fix it right. It will come out of park if you hard wire but the brake lights will always be on too.

Yeah screw hard wiring. I don't mind having to start in neutral. I do mind having dysfunctional lights.

The better option is to wire key-on power to the shift interlock.

Another big issue with hard wiring around the brake switch, that I just thought of. That circuit is always hot. You'd kill the battery in about 5 hours.

Took a drive down to Otay Mesa junkyards yesterday FTW. This is the messed up part
