well, its either the alpine amp with pioneer subs, or xplod amp with pioneer subs. i am selling the audibahn sub, but neither of my amps will push it. the alpine was hooked to it by the previous owner, but i cant get it to work. let me know which setup you want and ill name ya a price.

actually, here is 40.00 a sheet. plus wood glue, which was 10.00 for tightbond ultimate, another 10 in screws and pl adhesive. thats 60.00 so sue me for being 10.00 over.

just me but id probally have to take a audiobahn sub over a pioneer sub anyday unless its was a pioneer premier. dont get me wrong i like pioneer a lot and have always backed them over sony, but i think you just got a bad sub man.

yeah i sold it and now im selling the pioneer sub. trust me i wanted to use it. i found out that i had a wiring issue with the amp. thats why i couldnt get the sub to work. but let me tell ya, the 10 seconds it did turn on. man that thing kicked. but i was pissed and said the heck with it.

Wow I haven't checked in here for a bit and look what happens! Ok for starters as far as I know Soundaround (Audiobahn) is gone. Either way they were never a higher-end company anyway. But.... Alpine sucks? *shakes head*

i dont like audioban equipment or pioneer... especially pioneers decks, have had major problems with there new generation stuff ( i went trough six pioneer premire decks in two months).. the older the pioneer the better, i love my set up now and it only ran 400 bucks in total, 2 10" MA subs, 0ga kicker kit and PG amp 1600 w mono and the box... i can out preform any kicker or pioneer system my class... i get alt. interference but i need to sheild the inputs and RCA's but you can hear the bass from over a block away, i power my speakers using an alpine 4ch after blowing 4 infinity 4ch's, havent looked back and impressed by how efficent they are.. my deck is a high end alipine and its preformance has no compairson, but the look is to asian for me ahhaha

well ,the couple of things ive had that were alpine, did suck. hust like the ten jvc headunits i went through before going to pioneer. or the many sony hus before pioneer.

its probably not the manafactorer, i was just pissed because when i try to do it, it sucks. i do stereos for a living. im maybe not the best professional installer. but i could wire a car with my eyes closed. so when i say something sucks. its because I HAD A BAD EXPERIANCE WITH THEM MORE THAN ONCE, its not just, "oh i got a used amp, and a new sub and it wont work, they suck" i deal with this stuff on a weekly basis. sure theres people who know more than me, im not gonna deny that. tempe, im sure you have seen more car equipment with one eye, then ive seen in my entire life. but that still doesnt change the fact that i dont like something.

when i find something i like, i stick with it. ive never bought a "new" model pioneer. i bought my deh-p4700mp "new" off ebay when it was a couple years old. i like to see how others have liked it. how the controls hold up. how the features are. if i dont like it, i dont buy it, its that simple.

those are good words of wisdom i personally wish i would have done the same insted of encountering the same mistakes again, i am a very dedicated fan of older pioneer equip they had it down before they changed modles and product lines
as far as the protect mode is concerned on the amps i have seen people wire them below there ohm ratings (people trying to wire down to 2 or 1 ohm) when the amp is only stable at 4 ohms and this actually defected the amp and caused it to preform similarly to your descriptions even when its wired correctly.. but amps do weird crazy things that im sure the best of us will even still never understand.

i agree audiobahn sucks, they try to hide crappy products behind some gawdy chome.I have mixed feelings about alpine, ive never been impressed by and of their lowend products but you cant hold a grudge against their higher end headunits though. id take a 9835 or 9887 over just about any pioneer except maybe an 880prs. and if you say all alpine sucks you must not have ever heard any of the F1 status line. (even though the F1 components are made by scan speak)

this thread has really b3eaten kicker, pioneer, audiobahn and alpine into the ground. i want to hear from some people who have or had willingness to venture outside the mainstream audio companys like say cerwin-vega or orion??!? or my all time favorate memphis audio (and memphis belle) those are quality products made by people who know what there doing haha and it shows =]

Cerwin-Vega, at least when it comes to home audio, are almost hacks. They just make speakers that are so sensitive that you could almost power them with an I-pod, and with a real amp there just SO loud that you don't get the clarity. BUT because kids love loud music they sell.
