Well I know I always want to know how they determined how fast I was going. And in your case you should have had him clarify when/where you were. A lot of time they just judge your speed, I believe they are "trained" to do that. You can ask these questions, just don't ever seem like your being rude. Also, if you're feeling ballsy, ask when the radar/lazer was last calibrated.
Every time I've ever been given a citation, It was fully explained why and what it was, how much $ and how many points..... Sign here. Didn't this happen for you? Might be able to get off on minor legallity. But really, just take the defensive driving course and be done with it.
I think the troopers around here are respected more than the city cops. There is definitly a different aura about when "The troopers are here!" They are generally very respectful of your person (lol), but everyone has a bad day. I don't see troopers as pests that patrol the streets looking for quota tickets. They are more concerned with bigger "projects".
